Minecraft PC gets new launcher, is necessary for update 1.6 and beyond

Minecraft developer Mojong has released a new launcher for the game. It’s free, isn’t as drab-looking as the original, and is necessary to play Minecraft 1.6 and later.


The new launcher is said to boast better performance and stability, along with a new set of features. There’s also more password security options, the possibility of API plug-ins down the line and much more. I’m not au fait with Minecraft so I won’t insult your intelligence readers, just know what it’s better than what went before.

However, you’ll need to grab it if you want to play anything above Minecraft 1.6 as the current launcher will stop updating at Minecraft 1.5.2.

Fuzzeh_X Haven't got to test this out my self yet although I hear lots of mixed opinions it's nice to see there doing more stuff to make Minecraft better.


I don't really like it. They changed the Icon to a workbench too -_-


The new icon is terrible. What were they thinking?


I know right, but it makes sense now MineCRAFT :p they changed it to a crafting table :D

Working a lot smoother than the previous one. I'm loving the direction Minecraft is heading in. It's slowly becoming more of an RPG. Hopefully soon they'll have skill progression.
