Second official Call of Duty Championship set for March

Activision to host 32 teams competing for $1m in prizes

Activision will host its second Call of Duty Championship from March 28 to 30 in Los Angeles, the publisher announced Thursday.

The championship will draw 32 teams from around the world to compete for a total of $1 million in prize money. Players will compete in Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox One, with qualifying events in leading months held online and in person by international eSports organizations.

Regional tournaments and the finals will be broadcasted live on MLG.tv from late February through March.

Team Fariko Impact took home $400,000 USD in prize money after besting EnVyUs at last year's championship, which was also held in Los Angeles with a $1 million prize pool.

Infinity Ward has promised several impending adjustments to the game meant to improve its competitive play experience. The studio said Ghosts' spawning system is a particular area of development focus aside from thwarting cheaters and rebalancing weapons.

ShadowBolt14 I hope optic gets 1st round xD everyone will be blaming nadeshot for losing....

1st rounded in championships or first rounded in qualifiers? Cod champs might as well be canceled because optic is what brings the viewership and when optic is out of a tourney, people stop watching.

Its-Icy I always love watching these. Think Team EnVyUs will win it this year.

Either them or Complexity will most likely win it.

Racist 8 American teams and everyone will be fighting ONLINE. That is a joke to host a 400k prize and have it somewhat based online

It should be LAN at least. Online makes a HUGE difference, and it's a big deal with that amount of money.

I could see it being LAN based. It makes a lot more sense

Are they not playing on LAN? Wouldn't people just mess it up, that's sort of unfair...

Oh I meant qualification matches are online. The top teams will be invited to the lan. But still you could get hit offline and lose your placement matches and have no chance at getting invited to lan

Bankshot If only I had a sponsor... I would love to pursue a Pro gaming career

There are lots of people. A sponsor is only part of it. You need 3 other players who can dedicate all their time to the game.
