Steam's long-awaited library overhaul is available now in public beta

4.6
The Steam library overhaul has officially entered beta.

The 150mb build is now available for all Steam users to download, should they feel adventurous. The Steam library update was revealed earlier this month.

It’s a massive overhaul to the look and functionality of Steam’s most popular section. It touches everything from the design of the menus to tagging and the information you see on game pages and the people playing them.

Valve also wanted to make it easier to see which of your games recently received big updates, or when important in-game events take place in games you play. Since the beta went live, Steam users on social media and Reddit have been sharing their impressions.

Check these out before you participate in the beta yourself. One thing you might want to keep in mind is that the beta offers low-bandwidth and low-performance modes, which you could experiment with if you feel things are not snappy enough.

To opt in, simply click the Steam menu, hit Settings and select the beta build at the bottom of the Account page. The full release does not yet have an official date.
