Payday 3 Dev's CEO Apologizes For Online Shooter's Unstable Launch

Heisting with friends had more than a few hitches with Payday 3's launch, as server issues impacted the shooter game yesterday, September 21. As such, Starbreeze CEO Tobias Sjögren issued an apology on social media.

Sjögren posted on Twitter/X: "We are so sorry that the infrastructure didn't hold up as expected, and although it's impossible to prepare for every scenario--we should be able to do better." According to the official Payday 3 account on Twitter/X, the online shooter saw "slow matchmaking" throughout launch day and even became unavailable at a certain point.

However, earlier today, Starbreeze said, "[W]e're now confident in saying we're on our way back to full force." The co-op shooter sees players working together to pull off heists in New York City this time. Payday 3 released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S; it also was a day-one launch on Xbox Game Pass. Earlier this week, the developer dropped anti-piracy Denuvo DRM for the game just days before release.

Starbreeze has big plans for Payday 3, with four post-launch DLCs previously announced for the online shooter in its first year. Syntax Error will kick things off this winter for the game as the first add-on. The developer also wants to bring seasonal events, new characters, and updated features to the game in the future.
