Microsoft refunds victim of Xbox Live phishing scam
The user in question explained that her account was compromised on multiple occasions and used to purchase 1,000s of Microsoft Points, despite Microsoft having insisted the account had been locked.
She managed to work out that her account had been sold to a Polish Xbox gamer on a website called Tradetang, where 1,000s of Xbox Live accounts with large numbers of illegally purchased points attached to them were up for sale.
"While we do not ordinarily comment on specific cases, Microsoft can confirm that the account in question has been reinstated to its rightful owner and all unauthorized charges are being refunded in full," Microsoft has told Kotaku.
It also told the site: "The online safety of Xbox Live members remains of the utmost importance, which is why we consistently take measures to protect Xbox Live against ever-changing threats.
"However, we are aware that a handful of customers have experienced problems getting their accounts restored once they've reported an issue. We are working directly with those customers to restore their accounts as soon as possible and are reviewing our processes to ensure a positive customer support experience."
Despite growing concerns over much-talked-about Xbox Live account theft, Microsoft maintains "that there has been no breach to the security of our Xbox LIVE service."

I was always curious as to how people sold xbox accounts with like 8000 MSP on them but I guess now that I think about it. This is how. Microsoft should come up with a way to stop this. Especially since this kind of thing happens a lot and people's credit cards are exploited.

Microsoft should put a stop to this. Yes even if it's her fault for giving information away and Microsoft hadn't took action then someday she could end up being targeted by a man as he will find out all information about her.

DreamEndlessly Everyone assumes people give out there info, but a lot of people actually don't.
Say someone gets your ip with cain and able, then finds your location. They got half your info there. State, City, Zip Code. Now with a little talking they get your name, age, etc.
People don't purposely give out there info unless its a little kid looking for a lobby.
Seriously guys, stop assuming. Its annoying.
absolutely right finally someone who's smart and anyone who knows anything about hacking (real hacking) should know stealing xbox live accounts is really easy now. Also facebook and with all the social media helps out alot
