PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Skirt on Sale for Insane Price

4.7
Although the Steam community has definitely embraced PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds during the game’s early access period, the recent addition of a key and crate loot test did cause quite an uproar. The developers are trying to test out a loot system that will give players the ability to purchase cosmetic items for real world dollars. Despite the vocal outcry against the system, prices seem to be skyrocketing for some very random aesthetic items.

Currently, the most popular cosmetic PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds item selling on the Steam Marketplace is a pretty unremarkable purple mini skirt. The item isn’t really special in any particular way, but for some reason fans really want to get their hands on it. At this point, the cheapest price for the skirt that we spotted was around $460. That’s just the best deal and some listings are asking for as much as $487. The skirts are actually selling at these prices and even before the item started to spike over $400, most of the skirts had already been selling at over $300.

The skirt is just one of many items that seem to have brought out the big spenders in PUBG’s community. There are many items that are selling for much lower prices, like a standard camo padded jacket for about $3, but other items, like the hotpants, are selling for $288. It’s hard to predict a rhyme or reason for which items spike in price, but clearly there is a demand for these kind of aesthetic opportunities to have your player stand out from the pack.

This doesn’t really come as much of a surprise, as we’ve seen players drop hundreds of dollars for skin packs in CS:GO and MOBA players are always spending real world money on alternate costumers, mounts, and skins.

It will be very interesting to see how the key and and crate loot system is implemented when the game leaves early access and how it will be different for the console versions of the wildly popular title. Considering its popularity during early access, it seems like PUBG is here to stay and will likely continue to be incredibly profitable for the small studio behind the title.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is out now for PC in early access, with a release for PS4 and Xbox One expected in late 2017.

Xbox You won't catch me spending no 288 on hot pants or skirt.

Why tho - hot pants will look good on you.

It's mental how much people put into games... 288 for hot pants?

A little feature for the game I wouldn't careless about. The game I'm more focused on.

I could care less about outfits tbh. I win naked on that game so.

Not something I partially care about with PUBG - I normally just pick clothes up in game anyway.

I dont understand why people are pissed about this, they are just cosmetic items and if anything they negatively affect the person wearing the clothes as they become easier to spot with the different colours.

But yeah this always happens, theres only a few of these items that are available for trade at the moment once more people start opening the cases and more items are introduced in to the market they will drop rapidly, but can you really blame those people for putting the skirt/hotpants up for that price....if you see that you are one of the only people selling it you might as well try and get as much as possible from it.
