Earlier this week the game reportedly has sold over 6 million copies on Steam, and it was closing in on a concurrent player count of 500,000. Now the game has actually hit that incredible milestone.
The game had quickly climbed past Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V and now Bethesda’s Fallout 4 as the most played non-Valve game on Steam. Now the next two games it’ll need to pass are Valve’s Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2. Keep in mind that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is still in Early Access while doing all of this.
If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it’s an online multiplayer arena game where a large group of players are dropped into a huge arena. From there they have to gather supplies, weapons, and whatever they can get their hands on to take out everybody else.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available on Steam now in Early Access. The game will be getting a full release on Xbox One and PC later this year, a PS4 version will also be coming in the later future.
We just broke 500k! Thank you all so very much for your continuing support! <3 pic.twitter.com/FXnsy6twGX
