The news came via the following tweet from EA’s official’s Twitter account, which featured the game’s cover star, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Notably EA doesn’t provide any further specifics beyond this figure. For example, we don’t know how that number compares to the first-weekend concurrent user peak of last year’s installment, FIFA 17, or any other entry in the series for that matter. It’s safe to assume that the number isn’t a record-high for the series, because if it was, well it would have been boasted about. Nonetheless, 1.6 million peak concurrent players is an impressive number, especially for a game that had only released that Friday (September 29).
FIFA 18 is available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox 360, and PS3 at a price-point that starts at $59.99 USD.
