Speaking at PAX Aus, Greene stated that there is no resources or time to add single-player content to the game.
“Because of the lore of the island, there was an idea that I had for what I thought would be a pretty cool single-player [mode],” he said. “And even co-op single-player campaign. We have no resources. We have no time. We have no plans to add anything like this to the game. No, no single-player is coming to Battlegrounds.”
Greene got players excited for single-player content back in September when he mentioned in a Reddit AMA that he would love to add a single-player campaign to the game, but it appears that it’s not going to happen any time soon.
In other news, developer Bluehole Studio recently released a new update for the game that makes the blue zone even more deadlier to players caught inside it.
Following the update, the further a player is away from the safe zone, the more damage the blue zone will do to them. However, this does not apply for the very first blue zone.
As well as the blue zone change, the update also resolves a bug that caused bullets to sometimes ignore armor. Read the full patch notes below:
Gameplay
Blue zone DOT (Damage over Time) increases when characters are farther away from the play zone
This principle does not apply to the first blue zone
Bug Fix
Resolved a bug where bullets would sometimes ignore armor
“We have received a lot of feedback asking for improvement of the blue zone. We have decided to adjust the blue zone damage to encourage engagement inside of the play zone,” the development team explained last week. “From this new update, you will be able to focus more on the immediate, close-ranged skirmishes inside the play zone, instead of dealing with enemies outside of the play zone during the mid to late phases of the game.”
