The Nintendo Switch’s dominance of recent hardware charts is old news by this point, but that doesn’t mean Nintendo isn’t going to keep celebrating its new console’s sales, especially compared to its previous console.

In fact, the Switch is selling so well that it’s looking like it will outsell the Wii U by spring 2018, according to Nintendo’s second quarter financial results.

As of September 30th, the Switch has sold 7.63 million units, compared to the Wii U’s lifetime sales of 13.56 million units. On top of that, Switch software sales have already hit 27.48 million units, which more than doubles the figures from last quarter’s financial results.

The Switch’s hardware sales have slowed down a little bit compared to last quarter, when it reached 4.7 million units sold. However, taking into consideration the Switch’s manufacturing shortages and the fact that the first quarter’s sales were boosted by its launch, it seems like the Switch’s sales are staying fairly consistent since its debut in March. And we haven’t even hit holiday season yet.
