New Steam Link App Will Let You Play Your Games on Android and iOS

3.7
Streaming games from Steam to mobile devices isn’t exactly new, as it’s already possible via third-party apps. Yet, it’s soon going to be doable with a Steam-native app named Steam Link announced today by Valve.

The app will release on the week of May 21st, and it’ll let you play your games via streaming on iOS, Android and Smart TVs via 5Ghz wi-fi or wired ethernet. The Android version will be released in a beta version at first, even if the announcement is unclear on whether this will be before or after the official launch.

Steam Controller, MFI controllers, and more will be supported natively by the app.

A second app, named Steam Video, will allow you to do the same for your Steam-based video via wi-fi or LTE, both in offline and streaming modes. This one will be released in the summer.

While many games are probably a bit cumbersome to play on a the small screen of a smartphone, I’m certainly looking forward to enjoying my visual novels in bed.
