Though the game’s use of “fake” HDR, for the lack of a better word, is something that’s done on all platforms, it seems it’s mostly PS4 Pro users who’ve been facing this issue most commonly, as several users over at the RDR2 forums have pointed out. Thankfully, though, it seems Rockstar has acknowledged this issue. In response to a user contacting their support page, Rockstar confirmed that they’re “currently hard at work fixing a few of the issues the community is facing”.
We can probably expect a patch sooner rather than later that irons out blurred visual quality and HDR issues, as well as any bugs, glitches, or performance issues that Rockstar may have caught notice of since the game’s launch. Such issues, however, don’t seem to have had much of an impact on the game’s critical and commercial reception. Red Dead Redemption 2 grossed over $700 million in its opening weekend, becoming the biggest entertainment launch of all time– which seems justified, given the fact that it’s an absolute masterpiece.
