800 developers working on one game is a massive amount, and puts Resident Evil 2 squarely in the upper echelons of AAA game development on that front. For context, a game like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild only had 500 developers work on it.
The news was translated from the stream and shared on Twitter by Alex Aniel, who is currently working on writing a book that delves into the history of the Resident Evil franchise. Of course, given how great the game looks (such as in the latest gameplay footage we saw, which sees Jill come face to face with a Licker), I think that all that effort is going to end up paying off.
Resident Evil 2 launches on January 25 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
The most notable tidbit from last week’s Capcom NHK broadcast is that there were a whopping 800 (eight-hundred) people on #RE2 remake’s development. That includes programmers, photogrammetry models, mo-cap, etc. That’s more than the roughly 600 who worked on RE6. pic.twitter.com/zsmIUvGvLv
