Resistance 3 Beta Issues Being Addressed

4.6
As anyone who has been messing with the Resistance 3 Multiplayer Beta on PlayStation Network knows, it's been effectively broken for the better part of a week. You can make private matches just fine, but random matchmaking doesn't work, and according to a post on Insomniac's website, the studio is aware of that and other problems and is actively trying to fix what's wrong. The problems began to show-up, according to Insomniac, when the beta was opened-up "to the hundreds of thousands of SOCOM 4 users." This resulted in "some bugs that [Insomniac has] been rapidly working to correct..."

Insomniac has a few points worth noting to those who are already in the beta, or who are awaiting beta access. And it's worth stating that there's still no word yet on if and when regular PSN users will get in on the action. But it's not looking good for those who don't have an early access code, a code from SOCOM 4, or for those who aren't a part of PlayStation Plus.

The first note is that Resistance 3's Multiplayer Beta opens up to European PlayStation Plus members tomorrow (Wednesday). Also revealed is a stop-gap patch, 2.00, that all gamers will need to download. But Insomniac has a more robust patch, 2.01, that will hopefully be ready soon. "This additional patch will be required, and will allow us to re-enable matchmaking, which should again (hopefully) happen sometime in the late morning Pacific Time [on Wednesday]."

The final outstanding issue is in-game beta statistics, which will be taken down today and moved to new servers. The statistics will come back up for all users, so you won't lose your progress, but Insomniac clarified that these stats will not carry over to the final version of the game this September.
