Shortly after launch, players discovered that controllers can be used to play the game. Now that iOS officially supports PS4/Xbox One controllers, many on mobile are beginning to get comfortable with the idea of using them to play games over the device’s touch screen.
Unfortunately, controllers were seemingly not intentionally supported. Activision rolled out an update to the game that took out controller support, making touch screen the only valid method of playing Call of Duty: Mobile. Players surprised by this contacted Activision support, believing it to be an error.
The publisher’s support team, however, clarified that it is indeed intentional.
Hello there, thank you for contacting Spec Ops support. Unfortunately, this is no longer supported after the most recent update. I would be more than happy to help. Thank you. ^RN

The debate of whether or not playing multiplayer phone games with a controller offers an unfair advantage is an old one, but this may be the first case where it’s very simple to get the same experience with any of the existing Call of Duty games on consoles or PC, all of which support controllers.
