Alongside publishing a report this morning that stated Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II might soon be delayed to spring 2020, Kotaku reporter Jason Schreier also shared information on what he has heard about Sony’s other major upcoming first-party title in Ghost of Tsushima.
Schreier stated that what he has heard of Ghost of Tsushima is that the game is planned to release at some point in late 2020. This portion of the year is also when Sony plans to release the upcoming PS5, but according to Schreier, Ghost of Tsushima will still only be a PS4 game. He also states that this planned launch window for GoT is to make up for the supposed delay that The Last of Us Part II will soon be receiving.
BTW, Ghost of Tsushima doesn't have a public release date yet, but it'll also be bumped later into 2020 to account for this delay. Don't expect them to suddenly turn it into a PS5 game or anything, but it was originally planned for the first half of the year - not anymore

Considering how long it has been since we have seen anything substantial of Ghost of Tsushima, this timeline tends to make quite a bit of sense, assuming it’s factual. Even though it might be strange to have a major PS4 game come out in such close proximity to the release of the PS5, it actually would be an interesting way to test out the next console’s backward compatibility function. The PS5 has already been confirmed to play PS4 games, so even if Ghost of Tsushima does release very near to the PS5, those who purchase both GoT and the new console could actually play the game on the new hardware.
As of this writing, Ghost of Tsushima still doesn’t have an official launch window that has been given by Sony, but we should likely hear a whole lot more in the coming months.
