In a statement, Sony Interactive Entertainment president/CEO Jim Ryan said, “I am very pleased to see that so many PlayStation fans value the unparalleled entertainment experience on PS4. This has been made possible by the support we have from our partners and fans since launching PlayStation in 1994, and I would like to truly thank everyone.
“We’ve consistently delivered innovative products like PlayStation VR, which has reached its 5 million unit sales milestone. There is much more entertainment experience to look forward to that the PlayStation ecosystem will provide that we can’t wait to share with our fans.”
Other figures include 103 million monthly active users in December 2019 while PlayStation Plus subscribers were at 38.8 million. The company also hyped upcoming releases like Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2, which releases in May 2020, and Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima, which arrives in Summer 2020. Of course, other titles like Dreams (which recently went gold), Final Fantasy 7 Remake and more are also incoming.
Sony also revealed the official logo for the PlayStation 5 at CES 2020 while promising to reveal more information in the coming months. The PS5 releases in the Holiday season and currently has one confirmed exclusive – Counterplay Games’ action RPG looter Godfall.
