Valorant Has Been Watched for 334 Million Hours on Twitch Last Month

Riot Games' Valorant keeps breaking new records on Twitch as it owned a major part of viewership on the streaming service during April.

Riot Games has made a name for itself in delivering addictive multiplayer experiences. The developer’s latest project, Valorant, is a 5v5 online multiplayer first-person shooter that was launched in closed-beta phase earlier in April, and since then, the game is getting tons of views on Twitch to a point that it broke the record for the hours of being watched in a single day. Now, the latest information suggests that the game has been watched over 334 million hours in April on Twitch.

Discovered by StreamElements and reported by GameIndustry, with most of the people in the world staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of users watching streams via different platforms has increased dramatically. As for Twitch, the service has gained 99% more views in this April compared to the same period in the last year. Amazon’s stream giant has been watched over 1.5 billion hours last month, with 334 million hours dedicated only for Valorant, which means 22%.

According to a deal between Twitch and Riot Games, the only way you can get a code for Valorant‘s closed-beta version is to watch the live-streams of other players on Twitch, which has resulted in a great success for both of the companies.

Aside from Twitch, other well-known streaming platforms have also experienced a considerable leap in the number of views. Google’s YouTube Gaming has reached 461 million hours watched in April with a 65% increase compared to the same period in 2019. On the other hand, Facebook Gaming saw a huge increase of 238% in the number of views last month in comparison to April 2019, reaching 291 million hours watched.

Valorant is only available on PC for the time being, and its final version is set to be launched sometime this year. The game hasn’t been confirmed for consoles yet, but Riot Games will consider launching it for other platforms in the future.

OGTrey079 That number is highly inaccurate in terms of real viewership since there was suicide bots all over every channel getting valorant keys to sell to people who cheat.

I noticed this, I could not believe people were trying to sell the keys, insane.

I would say about 80% of these hours are from AFK viewers trying to get in the BETA.

I mean didn't they make you watch it in order to get the beta? Plus it dropped at a perfect time cause everybody is stuck at home. I'm not really surprised.
