Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a) a mouthful, and b) the official title of this year's Call of Duty game, which was recently confirmed after weeks of teasing from developers Treyarch and Raven Software. Now that we have the first official trailer and release date, fans are naturally starting to speculate on the finer details.

Activision has revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC November 13. Though, it's less certain when it'll launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Thanks to some peculiar wording from Activision on the matter, it sounds like Black Ops Cold War could be releasing on one next-gen console before the other. Here's an excerpt from some official marketing material:

"The PlayStation 5 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is scheduled for release Holiday 2020 in the U.S. and Canada, and in late 2020 for the rest of the world. The title is also scheduled for release later this year on the Xbox Series X."

Notice how it uses different language to describe the PS5 and Xbox Series X releases - could that mean one next-gen console gets to play Black Ops Cold War earlier than the other, or are we reading too much into it? With a company as big as Activision, it seems unlikely the discrepancy is a simple coincidence.

Following months of rumors, leaks, and teases from Treyarch, Black Ops Cold War was at-last fully revealed in the most Call of Duty way: you had to sign into Warzone and complete a special Contract in order to view the trailer. Of course, it was uploaded online shortly thereafter, so you can watch it right here without having to move a trigger finger.

It wasn't long ago that we were speculating about whether we'd even get a single-player campaign in Call of Duty 2020 - now we know it's got a dedicated campaign that directly follows the events of the first game. The reveal trailer sets up that decades-spanning narrative and reintroduces some familiar characters, not to mention real-life US president Ronald Regan.

Black Ops Cold War's campaign brings back Mason, Woods, and Hudson from the original Black Ops, meaning it's set before the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3.
