Unlike Sony, Microsoft has not been shy in giving fans a look at the Xbox Series X. We got our first look at the system back at The Game Awards in 2019. Since then, we’ve received snippets of details as we move closer and closer to release. And now, a new report from Venture Beat claims that we could soon get an even more in-depth look at the console.
We know that Microsoft is holding a big event in July to show off first-party titles like Halo Infinite. However, the publisher said they planned to hold monthly Xbox 20/20 events, which leaves June open as a major window for some type of announcement. Venture Beat claims Microsoft will have some event around June 10 that promises to give us a better look at the Xbox Series X.
Given that we already know so much about the console, it’s hard to say exactly what this could be. Potentially, we could simply be getting a glance at the system in action. That’s been a common occurrence at launch-year E3 events, so it would make sense. Getting to see the system’s menus and how everything works together would undoubtedly be a worthwhile stream.
However, Venture Beat brings up the interesting idea of Microsoft showing us the rumored Lockhart system. There have been multiple reports of a cheaper Xbox that comes without some of the more exciting next-gen features. Could this finally be the time that Microsoft reveals it to the world? Only time will tell, but if the June 10 window is legitimate, I would expect some type of announcement in the next few weeks.
Of course, everything here is mostly conjecture. While Venture Beat’s track record is certainly solid, we can’t know for sure until Microsoft gives us an announcement. That said, this report seems both feasible and very likely. Either way, we’ll know more soon.
