If you have ever galloped across the backroads by Saint Denis and heard the sounds of the battlefield, that isn’t your imagination.
Despite us being multiple years out from the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, there is a very active group of fans reconstructing and solving a host of mysteries, rumors, and urban legends behind the Rockstar game. Now, for the first time, we have video capture of the rumored ghostly Civil War battle of Bolger Glade.
Now this is the first time fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 have been talking about the Civil War ghost sounds. On Reddit community /r/RedDeadMysteries, there has been speculation since the game’s launch on sounds of bells, gunfire, and shouting around Bolger’s Gate. Through deep-diving some of the audio files, YouTuber RedDeadUnderworld managed to put together the hidden content into a comprehensive cutscene:
And while datamining audio files is a nifty way to see what is in the code, it doesn’t necessarily prove there is a way to access it in-game. Luckily, a few short days later, Reddit user (motivated by the recent audio discovery) camped out around Bolger Gate to see if he was able to trigger it.
Captured by Reddit user /u/MonsterTheKing55, it appears that standing in the right spot (abandoned church windows by Bolger Gate) during a thunderstorm at midnight does the trick. Following the toll of the bell, you can hear the rumblings of civil war soldiers, horns, horses, and General Harris planning out his next tactics. Definitely outside the scope of Arthur Morgan’s normal adventures:
CONFIRMED Bolder Glade Civil War ghostly sounds from r/reddeadmysteries
And while many were suspect, given how soon this dropped after the previous audio leak, it appears that it can be recreated so long as all of the other triggers (time, thunderstorm, etc.) are present. So if you want to go ghosthunting in Red Dead Redemption 2, now’s your time.
In other Red Dead Redemption 2 news, we explored the inexplicable link between RDR2 horses and Mafia 2’s cars — explaining the novel ways that Rockstar wants you to appreciate them. On a less serious tone, a recent mod lets RDR2 fans ride giant animals, which should just be canon at this point.
