HyperX revealed a new line of peripherals at the Consumer Electronics Show, and the ChargePlay Duo Controller Charging Station for Xbox was at the forefront. The company is not new to the game, having released an Xbox One version before, but this updated station will be next-gen ready. It's compatible with Xbox One controllers, but as a press release makes clear, "Two additional battery doors will be included to fit onto Xbox Series X|S wireless controllers."
As the name implies, the new ChargePlay Duo will charge two controllers simultaneously and will include two 1400mAH rechargeable battery packs. It's less bulky than a lot of charging stations on the market, so it won't take up as much space. The controllers rest securely on the dock and the LED indicators will make it clear when they are charged and ready to go. The retail price is $39.99 and it will launch in the US sometime in February. A product like this should help players will their charging needs, but if they're still having disconnection issues, the culprit might be the Xbox controller disconnecting bug that's still causing problems.
Now that the next generation of consoles is here--with plenty of people still scrambling to get one--peripheral companies are looking to strike while the iron's hot. Another well-established third-party supplier also released information on a series of new accessories. While the company is primarily known for its protective cases for phones and tablets, OtterBox revealed a line of next-gen gaming products, which includes an Xbox controller shell with grips, a gaming carrying case, and a mobile gaming clip, among others. Many of these products appear to be designed to improve upon mobile gaming experiences.
Outside of accessories, there are good options for controllers as well. Microsoft recently revealed the Xbox Pulse Red controller to its lineup. Carbon Black, Robot White, and Shock Blue have been options since the launch of the console, but a new fiery-red controller will be available in early February. Like other Xbox Series X controllers, it will be compatible with all previous Xbox consoles, as well as PC and Android devices. While a new color isn't game-changing, it's always nice when a company allows players some variety. In contrast, the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller still has no option outside of white.
