Ubisoft is currently hiring for a “new Might & Magic AAA game”, a job listing has revealed.

The company is looking for a candidate who can “champion the brand marketing and product marketability of a new Might & Magic AAA game.”

The game is seemingly in development at Ubisoft Shanghai, according to the job listing.

The Might & Magic series dates back to 1986, when the first title in the series, Might and Magic Book One: The Secret of the Inner Sanctum was released for Apple II, Mac, MS-DOS, Commodore 64, NES MSX and PC-Engine.

Since then, 10 games have been released in what the franchise considers its “main series”, with countless spinoffs also releasing in that time.

The series was originally developed by New World Computing before the company was folded into 3DO in 1996.

In 2003 following the collapse of 3DO, Ubisoft purchased the rights to Might & Magic for $1.3 million.

The last numbered Might & Magic game, Might & Magic X: Legacy was released in 2014 on PC and Mac. It was the first title released in the series in 12 years, the longest gap between main entries in the franchise since its inception.

Published by Ubisoft and developed by Limbic Entertainment, Might & Magic X was met with fairly positive reviews, granting it a 71 on review aggregator Metacritic.

Since Ubisoft’s acquisition of the rights to Might & Magic, it has released several titles in the spin-off series, Heroes of Might & Magic, with the most recent game in the series, Might & Magic Heroes VII releasing in 2015.

Mobile and free-to-play games such as Might & Magic Heroes: Era of Chaos and Might & Magic: Chess Royale has been published by Ubisoft in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
