Halo Infinite’s campaign co-op might have been delayed again

Halo Infinite’s long-awaited campaign network co-op mode could have been pushed back again.

In a development progress update in April, 343 said it had a “late August target” for the final release of campaign co-op.

With the end of August fast approaching, studio community director Brian Jarrard responded via Twitter to a fan’s suggestion that a delay for the feature could be incoming.

“’Targets’ are a stake in the ground at the time but of course subject to change,” he said on Wednesday. “We’ll have a roadmap update tomorrow on what to expect with Infinite in the months ahead.”

343 revealed last summer that Halo Infinite’s campaign co-op and Forge mode wouldn’t be available when the game was released in December 2021. Instead, it said the plan was to release the former with Halo Infinite Season 2 and launch the latter during Season 3.

A further delay to the features was later confirmed when 343 extended Halo Infinite Season 1, which was originally expected to conclude early this year, until May 2022.

343 provided the first look at Halo Infinite’s campaign co-op, as well as its mission replay system, in an hour-long preview video (viewable above) released in July, ahead of the launch of a public test for the new features.

It recently confirmed campaign co-op won’t support online matchmaking, meaning players who don’t have a friend to play with will need to seek out a teammate themselves using other channels.
