Despite being connected to the recently released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Warzone 2.0, much like the original Warzone, is completely free to play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. The franchise appears to be riding a high right now, as Modern Warfare II crossed an astonishing $1 billion in sell-through within the first 10 days, making it the fastest-selling Call of Duty title in history, according to a press release from Activision-Blizzard.
Activision also confirmed that over 1 billion matches and 200 million hours of Modern Warfare II were played within the title's first 10 days of release. "The new mark tops the previous franchise record of 15 days set in 2012 by Black Ops II.", Activision confirmed.

Ahead of the Battle Royale's release on November 16th, Activision confirmed that servers for the original Warzone would be temporarily shut-down, which has more than likely helped increase the number of active players in Al Mazrah. Warzone is set to be re-launched on November 28th as 'Warzone Caldera', and will continue as its own separate entity from Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0.
Fan favorite maps, Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep, won't be returning when Warzone Caldera re-launches on November 28th. However, Activision did state, "for those fans of small Battle Royale maps, expect exciting developments in Warzone 2.0 during future seasons". It's currently unknown whether or not these maps will return in Warzone 2.0, or if the developers intend on creating similar smaller-sized maps for Warzone Caldera's successor.
Warzone 2.0 is available for free on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
