Spotted on a Resetera thread, Frank Aliberti, a senior artist at PlayStation Studios Visual Arts, seems to be working on two unannounced shooter games for PlayStation. According to the profile, the 2023 game will be a third-person co-operative shooter whereas the 2024 game will be a first-person shooter.
According to the artist’s Linkedin profile, Arrowhead Studios is developing a third-person co-op shooter, whereas the first-person shooter is being developed by Firewalk Studios. We already know that PlayStation was working on these titles, although, the release windows were never confirmed. Aliberti has also worked on Kojima’s upcoming Death Stranding 2, which he has now removed from his Artstation profile as it pointed towards a 2024 release.
The release years for these shooter titles seem plausible considering they are in line with PlayStation’s plan to push out around ten live service games by 2026. Bearing in mind that these are multiplayer titles, it is possible that these are the very live-service games PlayStation was talking about.
Acquiring Bungie was also a strategic move for PlayStation as it can help its studios learn and develop IPs similar to Destiny 2's business model. Bungie itself is also working on a brand-new IP, which could very well be a live-service game separate from the immensley popular Destiny 2.
Aside from these, Sony’s Naughty Dog is also working on several projects, one of which is the multiplayer spin-off for The Last of Us called Factions, a sequel to the original TLOU's own minigame. PlayStation’s London Studio is also working on a fantasy live-service title which could be one of the ten games releasing by 2026.
