In a new gameplay trailer from IGN, players got a glimpse of what to expect from Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty's combat, melee weapons, and enemies, as well as exploration and environment. The footage showcases plenty of bloody combat against an array of enemies, including an alligator boss, water nymphs, monkeys, and flaming shrews.

Team Ninja's souls-like RPG Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will introduce a new combat system to differentiate itself from its original inspiration. As players might expect from a souls-like game, the player will encounter no mercy but many deaths, which will enable them to figure out the basics of the combat. However, as seen in the trailer below, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty draws players in with an art direction inspired by the dark fantasy iteration of China's Three Kingdoms, as well as its function as a modern Souls-like game.



The gameplay snippet showcases the protagonist in action against bloodthirsty enemies, giving an insight into its combat based on Chinese martial arts. Players will encounter surprise attacks from enemies to test out their reflexes, as they will also battle against giant creatures with deadly attacks. For example, a hedgehog-like creature can perform a spinning attack that requires good timing to dodge. Apart from mermaids and tigers, players will take on a giant ape and alligator in their own living spaces.

Melee weapons in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty allows players to boast acrobatic body movements to shake things up during combat. As players can see in the footage, the character combines sword attacks and traditional martial arts to offer an enthralling combat experience. Moreover, giant mountainscapes and bamboo forests bring fresh air to the environment, surrounded by enemies watching your weak moment.

The new gameplay trailer also touches on exploration, showing that players can find hidden items by cutting bamboo trees or using the dumble jump if they are in hard-to-reach places.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is being developed by Team Ninja, a division of Koei Tecmo best known for creating Nioh and Dead or Alive games. The upcoming action RPG is targeting a global release for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam on March 3rd, 2023.
