Borderlands movie reshoots taken over by Deadpool director

4.4
Reshoots for the long-in-development Borderlands live-action film have been taken over by Deadpool director Tim Miller.

Deadline reports that original director Eli Roth has handed over the reins of the project for the final two weeks of shooting as he departs for a new project.

Deadline reports that the handing over of the production was “amicable.” This follows the first test screenings of the films which took place last year.

The film, based on the Gearbox shooter franchise, was scheduled to be released in 2022, but there’s currently no word on when it will actually release.

Starring Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Kevin Hart as Rolan, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis and Jack Black as Claptrap, the screenplay for the project was written by Craig Mazin, who’s also the co-showrunner of HBO’s upcoming The Last of Us TV show.

During Lionsgate’s panel at 2022 CinemaCon, the first footage of the film was shown. However, nothing was released to the public.

So far, only an image of the characters in silhouette has been revealed.

As of July 2022, the Borderlands franchise has shipped over 75 million units according to Take-Two publishing label 2K.

2012’s Borderlands 2 is its top-selling title with over 26 million copies shipped, while 2019’s Borderlands 3 is its fastest-selling game with more than 15 million copies shipped.

Saber Interactive owner Embracer Group acquired Texas-based Gearbox in 2021.

Slyestcat Will be interested how this turns out, hopefully they stick to the Borderlands IP. Tired of seeing loosely based on movies/shows that have a big video game IP attached to it.

Indeed. Video games adapted into TV are generally dreadful. The Last of Us excluded.

I hope it doesn't take any longer now, it would be great to see this as a movie (or tv show)

Runts Good those are two good movies so it'll come out good

Borderlands is only a game so far?

I don't really like Deadpool, but I can see the director being a good fit for a Borderlands movie.
