Although God of War: Ragnarok lost the Game of the Year award to Elden Ring again, Santa Monica's beloved sequel was known as the best experience of 2022 in seven categories of the DICE Awards.

Winning the awards for Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Achievement in Art Director, Outstanding Achievement in Audio Design, Outstanding Achievement in Character, Adventure Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition, and Outstanding Achievement in Story, God of War: Ragnarok swept the trophies in DICE Awards by becoming the game that collected the most wins.

It's worth noting that Elden Ring and God of War: Ragnarok were both awarded as the winner of Outstanding Achievement in Story. Elden Ring won 5 trophies overall, including the Game of the Year trophy. From Software's critically-acclaimed experience also won the same trophy in multiple other festivals, such as The Game Awards 2022 and The New York Game Award.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, Gran Turismo 7, Red Matter 2, Vampire Survivors, OlliOlli World, Dwarf Fortress, MultiVersus, and Marvel Snap were the other winners of the recent DICE Awards ceremony. Also, Tunic became the best indie title of the year.

Launched in November 2022, God of War: Ragnarok has become a huge critical and financial success for PlayStation. The game was released for both current-gen and last-gen PlayStation consoles while delivering a visually superior experience on PlayStation 5.



Previously, Santa Monica Studios had announced that the Kratos' Norse Saga will not be a trilogy, which probably means there won't be another sequel in the same setting, though that doesn't put an end to the entire franchise. Officially, we have zero information on the next project by the developer of God of War, but rumors say it could be a brand-new IP led by Cory Barlog. Other than for its debut title, which was a racing game, Santa Monica has never worked on anything other than the God of War series, so the possibility of creating a new IP could be a crucial point in the studio's history.

Unfortunately, God of War: Ragnarok has not been confirmed for PC yet, leaving the community in anticipation to continue their journey with Kratos and Atreus.
