Speaking during its latest financial results, Sony Interactive Entertainment has assured its investors that the highly anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch during the current financial year.

The Insomniac Games-developed sequel was previously confirmed for a Fall 2023 release, and while no date has been announced yet, it seems that a delay is unlikely at this point. Furthermore, Sony hasn’t exactly been forthcoming about any other major PlayStation exclusives this year, so Spider-Man 2 is the big hitter for the back half of 2023.

Elsewhere, the format holder is expecting a decease in sales of first-party games for the FY2023, which may suggest that there will be a decline in the number of new first-party games due out in the near future.

However, it could also be the result of development moving forward to PS5 only rather than cross-generation releases, plus the fact Sony has a number of live service games in the pipeline.
