GTA 6 might not have turned up at the PlayStation Showcase like everyone was hoping, but it still feels like a reveal of some kind could be just around the corner, especially as Take-Two is now openly commenting on the game and has even suggested that it could launch in the next fiscal year. We're still waiting on an official reveal, but a leaker has suggested that our next trip to Vice City might include a layover in Cuba.
While responding to questions during a livestream, Tyler McVicker is asked if he knows anything about GTA 6. He instantly responds that it's a retelling of Bonnie and Clyde's story, which he suggests means that we already know how it's likely to end. McVicker then quickly rattles off some things he knows about the game, including that it has two playable characters, has a time jump of some kind, and will feature Cuba as a playable area.
McVicker said, "We already know how GTA 6 is gonna end. Spoilers, Bonnie and Clyde back in like the 30s, died in a blaze of gunfire. It’s not three playable characters, it’s two playable characters. It takes place with a time jump. It takes place in the Miami, Florida, area and then also part of Cuba. It’s about the drug trade. It’s about bank robbing. It’ll be out in 2024.”
For those wondering, McVicker has had a solid track record for leaks in the past, although they have mostly been focused on games and projects from Valve. It's also worth noting that a lot of what McVicker says in the video tracks with previous GTA 6 leaks. We've known for some time thanks to the development footage that came out in 2021 that GTA 6 will take place in Vice City and will feature a male and female protagonist, two things that McVicker notes in the video. The Bonnie and Clyde influence has also previously been noted by other leakers.
The things that stand out in McVicker's comments are the mention of a timeskip and Cuba. It's not clear from McVicker's comments when the timeskip is going to take place, but it's worth noting that GTA 5 began with a flashback and Red Dead Redemption 2 ended by jumping forward several years, so it's not out of place for Rockstar.
As for parts of Cuba being playable in GTA 6, that also doesn't come as too much of a surprise considering how we had Guarma in Red Dead Redemption 2. McVicker's comment makes it sound like Cuba won't be part of the main map and will be a side location we visit as part of the story, once again echoing Red Dead Redemption 2.
