A tweet on the official Soul Calibur Twitter account stated that the game and all its DLC will be removed on June 19.
“Valiant warriors, Soul Calibur 5 is taking its final curtain call on the stage of history and will be sunset on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on June 19, 2023,” the message reads.
“The base game and all associated DLC will no longer be available for purchase. Thank you for your continued support.”
Soul Calibur 5 is not backwards compatible on Xbox Series X or Xbox One, nor is it available as part of the Classics Catalogue for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers.
As such, the removals will only affect those playing on PS3 and Xbox 360.
As with most digital games on those systems, it’s expected that players who purchase Soul Calibur 5 before June 19 will still have access to it after it’s removed, as will those who own disc versions of the game.
Soul Calibur 5 was released in January 2012 and featured 28 playable fighters, 10 of which were appearing in the series for the first time.
The series has been known for its guest fighters over the years, including the likes of Link and Spawn in Soul Calibur 2, Darth Vader and Yoda in Soul Calibur 4 and Geralt from The Witcher and 2B from Nier: Automata in Soul Calibur 6.
Soul Calibur 5 was no different, featuring Ezio from the Assassin’s Creed series as a playable fighter.
Valiant Warriors - Soul Calibur V is taking its final curtain call on the stage of history and will be sunset on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on June 19, 2023. The base game and all associated DLC will no longer be available for purchase. Thank you for your continued support.
