Baldur’s Gate 3 Features 17,000 Variations on the Ending

3.8
By now, you’ve heard how Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive role-playing game, from its 31 sub-races and 46 sub-classes to over 600 spells, 2000 characters and 174 hours of cinematics. Every decision has long-reaching consequences, so it’s probably unsurprising to hear that the ending has numerous variations.

How many? According to Larian Studios associate writing lead Chrystal Ding when speaking to Fextralife, the ending has 17,000 variations. It doesn’t necessarily mean the main story can have 17,000 different outcomes. Like Divinity: Original Sin 2, there could be an epilogue screen which shows the results of various choices throughout the story.

Time will tell, but Ding says she’s been working on the ending for roughly six months, so there’s plenty to look forward to. Baldur’s Gate 3 launches on August 3rd for PC and September 6th for PS5 (with Digital Deluxe Edition owners receiving 72-hour early access to Act 1).
