Bungie’s State of the Game post spoke about a host of new features for the game, including the ability to save shaders. However, the studio has been getting criticisms from the Destiny 2 playerbase owing to the lack of content for the PvP Crucible modes, as well as the game’s general focus on more monetisation.
“I think it’s fair to say that this approach is not producing the Crucible that our players expect from us,” said Blackburn, who goes on to talk about how the studio plans to make a host of new PvP maps and game modes for Crucible and release them for free in 2024.
“This is a shift from our strategy,” Blackburn continued, “so it’s going to take us time to sort of understand the details of what we’re putting out here.”
Blackburn goes on to talk about a new “PvP strike team” at Bungie that will focus on developing the PvP side of Destiny 2 further through new content and smaller balance tweaks.
“One of the most exciting parts about these strike teams is, we build them based off of community feedback,” said Blackburn. “So these strike teams are built from the ground up to look at, ‘What are the pain points that are hitting our community the most?’ So all this list is going to be built and burned down from, ‘Hey, these are the big issues the PvP community is looking at in Destiny 2.'”
Bungie is currently gearing up for its upcoming Destiny 2 Showcase, where it plans to reveal more details about not only Season 22 of Destiny 2, but also next year’s major expansion release, Destiny 2: The Final Shape.
