Other new releases saw solid debuts in the US as well. Pikmin 4 debuted in sixth place (though digital data is not included for it), while Exoprimal, which is also available via Game Pass, debuted at No. 16. Meanwhile, interestingly, a couple of older Call of Duty titles also enjoyed an unexpected resurgence in sales after multiplayer functionality was restored on Xbox consoles, with 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 coming in at No. 18 (up from No. 83), and 2015’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 at No. 20 (up from No. 28).
On the hardware front, the PS5 was, once again, the best-selling console of the month in the US in terms of both dollar and unit sales, with the Switch coming in second. The PS5 continues to lead the way with year-to-date numbers by both metrics.
Many classic Call of Duty titles experienced a resurgence in July, as multiplayer service functionality was restored on Xbox platforms aligned with price promotion. Call of Duty: Black Ops II returned to the top 20 best-sellers list for the first time since April 2017.
