Fans of the surprise hit first-person shooter RoboCop: Rogue City received some good news to start 2024, as publisher Nacon posted on social media that the game would receive a New Game Plus mode for a future update. The feature was among the most requested items from RoboCop: Rogue City players.

Developed by Tayon and released in November 2023, the story of RoboCop: Rogue City takes place between the second and third RoboCop films. As a game that is also a movie sequel, players donned the mantle of the titular cyborg police unit and fought crime on the dystopian streets of a futuristic Detroit. Between taking on gangs and dispensing parking citations, RoboCop: Rogue City gave players a glimpse into the life of Alex J. Murphy, the fallen Detroit police officer who was resurrected as RoboCop. Despite his unfortunate circumstances and continued threats from both the gangs of Detroit and the boardroom of the megacorporation Omni Consumer Products (OCP), RoboCop remained bound to his duty to serve and protect the citizens of a bleak city.

With a 93% positive rating on Steam at the time of writing, RoboCop: Rogue City is one of 2023's surprise hits. As a result of its success and player feedback, publisher Nacon took to social media to announce that a future update would bring a New Game Plus mode to the FPS title. Nacon stated that an announcement in the coming weeks would touch upon it again, and asked players to keep an eye on social media for more information. While no other dates or details were given by Nacon at the time of writing, the fact that the game will continue to receive support months after its initial release is a good sign for gamers looking to give it a shot.

Despite a limited list of titles that went as far back as the NES and the Commodore 64, the RoboCop games have not usually had staying power as far as movie tie-ins go. However, between the Auto 9 pistol and other upgrades that can be bought throughout the game, RoboCop: Rogue City gave players an experience that remained faithful to the movies that inspired it, with dedicated fans spotting references to the films.

Those who are curious about picking up RoboCop: Rogue City on PC will have until January 4 to get it for 30% off during the Steam Winter Sale. With a new update on the way, RoboCop fans have plenty to get excited about in 2024.
