Dragon Ball FighterZ Is Getting A Current-Gen Update

3.4
The most recent issue of V-Jump has revealed that Dragon Ball FighterZ is getting a current-gen update in the near future alongside an ultimate edition re-release that includes all of the game's DLC fighters.

With the final bit of DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot launching in just a few days and Sparking: Zero somewhere on the distant horizon, it's never been a better time to be a fan of Dragon Ball and video games. There's more to get excited about than just new releases, though, as both Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2 and Dragon Ball FighterZ are looking to stay relevant to PS5 and Xbox Series.

Just a few months ago, we found out that XenoVerse 2 is going to be getting a current-gen update for anyone playing on PS5 and Xbox Series, and it looks like Dragon Ball FighterZ is looking to follow suit. As highlighted by Twitter user DbsHype, FighterZ recently appeared in the most recent issue of V-Jump, where it was revealed that an update for current consoles is being prepared.

According to DbsHypeand ShonenGameZ translations, the current-gen version of FighterZ will add 4K resolution to the game alongside "brushed-up" character models that should make all of the fighters look better than ever. There's no release date for the patch right now, but it sounds like it'll probably arrive at the same time as the long-awaited rollback netcode.

That's not all that was announced in V-Jump, however. As revealed by ShonenGameZ, a "Legendary Edition" of FighterZ is also going to be released soon, which will act as the complete version of the game with all of the DLC characters. An "Ultimate Edition" version of the game was previously released some time ago, but that only had the first eight characters out of 20, so this complete edition should be a great way for fans to get the full experience.

Sadly, anyone who was hoping for news on rollback netcode is going to have to keep waiting, as the issue of V-Jump simply says that it's still in development. We've been waiting an awful long time for it to be implemented, but it did at least have a beta test late last year, so it seems like it's not that far off.
