With each season reaching the halfway point, Activision typically puts out a massive Reloaded update, a big mid-season patch that typically introduces tons of new changes and content. Call of Duty: Warzone Season 2 is no different, as the just announced update is scheduled to roll out later this week on March 6, and with it comes major additions to all core areas of the experience. In terms of Warzone, Raven Software has added a new field upgrade and killstreak, along with a brand-new point of interest to check out called the Research Vessel.
Announced inside of the Season 2 Reloaded blog update, Call of Duty: Warzone revealed the Research Vessel point of interest off the coast of Season 2's map known as Fortune's Keep. However, what makes this location unique is that it is a location that stays on the move in the first two minutes of the match, thanks to it being a large pontoon-style watercraft. After those two minutes, the Research Vessel will anchor itself, though players won't always know where to look as the boat as a few different locations it could stop at.
What's so important about Warzone's Research Vessel POI?
However, just like gaining access to the secret vault in Fortune's Keep, players will likely want to hunt down the Research Vessel as soon as they can. Not only does the boat have multiple levels to explore, players can commandeer it and gain access to a wealth of equipment and technology. Activision has already revealed, as well as teased, some of the bonuses a squad or player can get by taking control of the ship, including:
UAV Tower
Unique Buy Station with exclusive items
Helipad and helicopter
Decontamination station that works similarly to the new PDS field upgrade. This counteracts the circle gas, creating a temporary safe zone.
Some sort of locked chamber that holds tons of loot.
Unfortunately, these frequent updates aren't always smooth, between the various bugs and glitches that can appear. Just recently, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 experienced technical issues where progression was largely broken for players attempting to advance in their events, challenges, and Battle Pass. Issues got so bad that certain modes were disabled, though the problems were seemingly short-lived as a fix was quickly rolled out to restore the missing modes and features.
