More "evidence" for dual iPhone launch in September?

4.5
The next generation iPhones to hit the market is expected to launch sometime in September, and early! That's if claims made by German website "iFun" turn out to be true.

According to their "very credible and serious source"

'The next-generation iPhone will be according to our information on 6 September come on the market. In addition to that day, “two new types of devices” to be available – and thus are not two different color variations or memory meant. This information can reach us from a very credible and serious source.'
If you can get past the hilarious translation courtesy of Google, then we can assume that the website is talking about two iPhones, the 5S and the plastic variant that's intended for the lower end market, which is expected to come in a range of colors.

The image below, added to the KnowYourMobile article shows a few spec differences between the current iPhone 5 and 5S, noticeable differences is the screen for the 5S at 4.2" with a different screen resolution and PPI, although the dimensions remain the same for both devices.

The next generation iPhone 5S, allegedly also comes with a bigger battery, 2GB of RAM, dual LED flash and iOS7, while the plastic variant is widely expected to be based on the current iPhone 5, in terms of technology.

Of course you'll need to take this rumor with a fistful of salt, because Jim Dalrymple of The Loop has already "Nope'd" the 6 September launch date, making iFuns "credible" source looking much less credible.

One way or the other, we'll all find out sometime in September.

In another addition to the abundance of iPhone leaks and rumours flooding tech sites in the past weeks, packaging for a cheaper, plastic iPhone has been revealed, touting the name 'iPhone 5C'. This name would make sense, considering that Apple's latest generation high-end smartphone will likely be branded 5S, to fit in with previous years.

Most interesting about these cases, revealed on the WeiPhone forums, is their shape and material. The rounded white plastic matches the leaked casings we have seen many of recently, and still matches Apple's minimal aesthetics. In the past, however, Apple has opted for cardboard boxes for their iPhones, but perhaps they are too expensive to produce for a cheap device like this.

There has been some debate over what the 'C' could stand for in the name. Rumours of colourful iPhones point us towards the name 'iPhone Colour', although 'Cheap' may also be a viable, albeit a tasteless alternative. Could this be a phone limited by region, known as the 'iPhone China'? Tim Cook recently spoke out about the importance of China to Apple:

I continue to believe that in the arc of time China is a huge opportunity for Apple, and I don't get discouraged over a 90-day kind of cycle that can have economic factors and other things in it
Apple recently announced that they sold 31.2 million iPhones, a record figure, in the June quarter. More iPhone models would undoubtedly add to this number quite considerably.

_Bale So its pretty much the same phone..... but bigger. Not worth getting at all.

There are always minor changes with the next release. People think they are drastic enough to upgrade, but I don't believe so. I have the iPhone 5 currently, and have no plans of upgrading to the new ones any time soon.

I think that maybe they are mixing it up and the next gen iPhone will be iPhone 5C instead of of the 5S like they have done for the past years. The bigger battery and the 2GB of RAM is going to be awesome, well worth getting the new one. I don't think that they are going to make the screen bigger because that was the rumor every year and it never happened.

Mortar I really don't see why they make the "S" versions, they're basically the ".5" version, the visual upgrades are small, and the internal upgrades are of a medium change. I think they should not bother with the "S" version and just make a big upgrade instead.

I agree, The S version makes pretty insignificant improvements over the original. It's a pretty good business strategy though. People feel the need to upgrade their iPhone 5 because there is a newer product available

ShadowBoltDashie Unless there is a significant reason, I more and likely won't get the iPhone 5S or 5C(Whatever it's being called.) My iPhone 5 works fine and if there is very little added to the new one, there is no point in me wasting money on it.

Many people seem to update their iPhone because they feel that it's outdated when in reality Apple only improves new models slightly. I see no reason to upgrade yet again
