Xbox by the numbers: 20m Xbox Live users, 10m nongaming, 39m Xbox 360 consoles

While Microsoft's CES announcement that Xbox Live "is now an active community of over 20 million people" is somewhat blunted by Sony's claim of 38 million PlayStation Network accounts (though if our dozens of collective PSN accounts are any indication, some of us have more than one), Redmond did have some other numbers to share regarding Xbox and Xbox Live during tonight's CES keynote. First, "Nearly 10 million people have logged into Xbox Live's nongaming applications" including "Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, Last.fm, Sky, Canal and Zune." We'll do the math for you: that's 50% of the Xbox Live audience, and those are all paying Gold users.

More numbers: "Between Christmas and New Years Day, Xbox Live experienced its busiest week ever, adding a new member every second and a record of more than 2.2 million concurrent members online." And not a network failure in sight! Congrats, Microsoft! Lastly, "there are now over 39 million Xbox 360 consoles around the world," "more than 500 million games have been sold" and "$20 billion spent in retail." PSN is a joke. Xboox Live is a community and PSN is just a bunch of rich no life 35 year olds.



Oh btw, when people said the graphics are better, i used to tell them not 100-200$ better. and the internet feature is not even that good. there's things called.. computers. ftw.

Yeah I agree xbox 360 is better but the Ps3 comes close with its free live and stuff and the graphics do beat the 360's yet 360 members communicate more and its more fun to argue aswell as they aint all like 35 and just mute you :D

Lets be honest there will always be a debate about which is better PS3 or Xbox 360.



As someone who has both, and plays both, I would go 360 everyday for gaming.



The setup is better and easier to use, the gaming profiles as well are a huge plus(PS3 doesn't have good ones.)



But PS3 is free and you do get alot of very good players on it.



I find it alot easier to get a nuke on 360, and I think this is because 360 has a young audiance and PS3 has older gamers.



On Xbox there is alot more communication between gamers and generally it is funnier to play with people having a laugh or some banter in the room.



So I would go with 360
