Microsoft: We are "selling every Xbox One we can make"

4.7
Earlier today, Sony announced that after the launch of the PlayStation 4 in 30 more markets in Europe and Latin America last week, it has now sold over 2.1 million units of the console since it was first released in the U.S and Canada on Nov. 15. However, it appears that Microsoft seems to be more reluctant to offer any updated sales numbers for the Xbox One, which launched in 13 markets on Nov. 22.

Back then, Microsoft said it sold over one million Xbox One units in its first 24 hours. Today, in a statement sent to AllThingsD, Yusuf Mehdi, the Corporate Vice President of Marketing and Strategy for Microsoft's Xbox division, offered this rather vague update on sales of the console:

Eleven days in we are seeing record breaking sales and are selling every Xbox One we can make. Demand is far exceeding supply in the 13 countries we’ve launched and we are sold out at retailers around the world.

Unfortunately, that optimistic statement did not come with a updated sales figure for the Xbox One, as Sony offered today for the PS4. There is evidence from a third party consumer study that the Xbox One outsold the PS4 in the U.S. last week during Black Friday. Hopefully the company will offer some concrete figures on this subject soon.

Cokes I don't know if EVERYONE wants to buy one at this point. Amazon had Xbox's available for over 5 hours after more were in stock. PS4 was sold after 3 minutes of more becoming available.

That is a lie, PlayStation 4 was available for a couple of hours and both of them are currently sold out again.

Yes I find this hard to believe as its easy to get a console in Australia, whereas the PS4 is sold out.

XBONE is every where.

That doesn't mean anything.
If it does mean anything, it would mean that MS has made more Xbox than Sony has made PS's.

Amazon put the same amount of consoles up for sale at the time. It doesn't matter how many they made, it matters of how many were available for purchase. In this case, the number was the same by Amazon. Clearly shows the PS4 is more favorable right now at this moment. Which in my opinion, is because it is cheaper.

How the hell do you know this?
Do you work for Amazon?

I was ordering an Xbox One and had account trouble so in the end I talked to like 5 different supervisors to get it taken care of. I asked them how much consoles they had left and one told me they had plenty left to sell and they had the same amount of each console up for purchase but the PS4s sold out. I was getting the Xbox and could really care less about if PS4 sells more because it seems like a price is a huge factor.

Exactly, I feel like everyone on the internet just comes up with numbers and says it's true.

I don't know if they sold more or less than PS4 but if they sold less I can understand the vague statement. Discussing poor sales = loss of investors = loss of money = a bad 4th quarter. I wouldn't talk about sale figures until next year lol

Ballpark I really do hope they meet demands for christmas, I would really like to have one!

I could see them meeting demands in some areas and not in others for Christmas.
