4.5
Alex Kibkalo plead guilty to theft of trade secrets on Monday for leaking Windows 8 code prior to it's official launch. Alex, a former Microsoft employee, was sentenced to three months in federal prison and a fine of $22,500 to be paid to Microsoft. He worked as a software architect for seven years at Microsoft prior to departing the company in 2012, he left to pursue a job at 5nine Software afterwards. This story brought to light a issue where Microsoft would troll user content within the Live email service for copyright infringement, they have recently came out and abolished the practice in the future.

Haha. This man is dumb. He deserves the punishment he gets.

Why would anyone think that this is a good idea?

7 years is a lot to throw away, plus a $22,500 fine. Damn

AR15Posted:

Why would he throw away all those years with MS? Is it really that big of a deal to release something early?

I do not see why anyone would bother doing such a thing, sure it may seem like a good idea, but it is highly unprofessional.

-Tupac He should have never of leaked anything. There is seriously no point in doing so.

I agree, it would be hard not to, but it spoils things and gets people in to BIG trouble.

Ah, i don't see the point in leaking things, but if it was me, i probably couldn't help myself!

Leaking info, fair enough. Leaking actual system code is pathetic. Why bother? A fine of $22.5k serves him right. I think he got a fair punishment for his actions.
