Former Microsoft employee pleads guilty of leaking Win8 trade secrets
4.5
Alex Kibkalo plead guilty to theft of trade secrets on Monday for leaking Windows 8 code prior to it's official launch. Alex, a former Microsoft employee, was sentenced to three months in federal prison and a fine of $22,500 to be paid to Microsoft. He worked as a software architect for seven years at Microsoft prior to departing the company in 2012, he left to pursue a job at 5nine Software afterwards. This story brought to light a issue where Microsoft would troll user content within the Live email service for copyright infringement, they have recently came out and abolished the practice in the future.
Leaking info, fair enough. Leaking actual system code is pathetic. Why bother? A fine of $22.5k serves him right. I think he got a fair punishment for his actions.
