3DS system update adding new parental controls

4.5
While 3DS system update 7.2.0-17 allows parents to better control the time children spend on the Nintendo device it appears the update also improved overall stability in hopes of enhancing the user experience. A full, albeit rather short, update briefing can be found below as given by Nintendo.

New Parental Controls feature

You can now register an email address to which a master key can be sent. If you forget your PIN and the answer to your secret question at a later point, a master key to reset your PIN can be sent to the email address you have registered. Please make sure to use an email address that only parents or guardians can access, to prevent children from seeing the master key that is sent.
System stability improvements and other adjustments

Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user's experience.Nintendo

I can understand this but have parents ever thought that they could just physically take the 3DS away from their kids when they have had enough time. That is the best way to due it in my mind because that gives you even better control of what the kids do. Kids these days are really smart, they can get around the Parent lock one way or another, you know, we have all done it.

lei Parental controls are so pointless. Lol

they're not really pointless for (over protective) parents that have children who own a 3DS

Gossip Why add this? You usually buy a 3DS for your kid so a parent would never use it, so why is this needed?

Im guessing when the kid acts up or being disrespectful to there parents, then parent just punish them with this.

Zips Obviously kids will be playing on these and parents would like to know what they are doing and restrict them from some apps/internet or whatever.

you mean overprotective people would do that

Maggardo Parental controls are really stupid, imo. Nobody that I know, uses parental controls.

No other children do. But some parents like the feature of parental control on their children's devices.

my mam puts it on my younger brothers 3DS
