O’Connor questioned what is gained by leaking information. “So you can have a mildly interesting surprise 8 hours early and lacking context?” he said. Spreading false or outdated information leads fans to “get hyped or disappointed disproportionately”, and can damage the efforts and reputation of developers.
“It isn’t prophecy, nor ultimately even important. It’s annoying.”
