According to BGR, a couple of readers have chimed in on the site, reporting that their once pristine iPhones are suffering from discoloration on the plastic antenna band areas. The problem seems to occur with users that put their devices into pant pockets. The repeated action, that most likely happens multiple times over the course of a day, causes the dye of the pant to eventually rub off onto the phone.
While there's no word on how to correct this problem once it has occurred, those who have contacted Apple for support have been told to try and remove the stain by carefully scrubbing the area with household cleaning products. Luckily, those that have yet to encounter this issue can most likely just purchase a case to prevent the discoloration from occurring. Judging from the pictures, it looks like the white and gold models will be more susceptible to this issue due to the phones' lighter colored antenna bands.
