Bungie is making some interesting changes to Destiny’s PvP

4.5
Destiny PvP will get a bit of a shakeup when patch 2.1.1 drops next week.

Arekkz breaks it down in the video below, but for starters, players will no longer have special ammo at the start of 3v3 matches, but will have to search it out after kick off. This move is designed to end the death-within-seconds-of-match-starting thing, which can be really frustrating. 6v6 modes will continue as normal, as Bungie believes the larger modes are less of a problem in this regard.

The other major change was inspired by the recent Rift Iron Banner. This more co-operative game mode is significantly easier with a co-ordinated team of friends, so solo players find it very frustrating to be matchmade against groups.

To counter this, Bungie is introducing two new playlists called Freelance. Available in 3v3 (Elimination, Salvage and Skirmish) and 6v6 (Clash, Control and Rift) flavours, these playlists are only for non-grouped players.

In other news for PvP players, Bungie will introduce a Damage Referee, which is designed to improve your experience if you’re on a bad connection.

Visit Bungie.net for more information on these topics. The update rolls out on February 9, alongside the Crimson Days 2v2 PvP event.

Curious to see where this goes. Hoping For the best

Honestly this is a great move, and has benefited the game greatly, no more getting sniped straight off the bat, this is bad for people like me that do this also but it certainly improves the quality of gameplay

People spawning in with shotgun and sniper ammo got so annoying early on in Destiny. Getting killed off spawn by a sniper was something that I always got annoyed at.

THQ Destiny was just too repetitive for me to go back too

I never got into Destiny. But, the fact that they are still fixing issues and changing things makes me think they actually care about stuff within the community.

Been playing it and to be honest I wouldn't have noticed unless I had read this article

Never played destiny and I never will!

The title made it seem like something exciting, but special ammo? Never really used it in PVP unless it was the Icebreaker in year one.

I feel bungie cares about its players and are doing everything to get people playing again which is awesome! Unlike some game companies out there they are trying to get use to come back so that isn't really a bad thing.
