Okay so if i have a iphone 3gs and i live in CANADA and i unlock it can i get a sim card from a pay as you go phone from lets say rogers put it into the phone and pay the 20$ a month for unlimited text and browsing?

Well as long as its GSM based then you can use it im not familiar to rogers or whatever but you can ask them if its GSM if it is GSM then you can use it Correct me if im wrong also there is something about USIM not sure though

After some quick searching i found out that in fact rogers IS gsm based
so could someone sum up what i am able to do?

Okay so buy a Phone from rogers then take the Sim card out and place it into your Unlocked iPhone then you should be able to use it just like you would use the phone that you bought they think you are using the phone that you bought but truly you are using the Unlocked iPhone

Alright thanks guys for all the help!
i plan on just buying a phone from a bud and unlocking it to save money because i dont think 50 bucks a month is really worth it..
