System restore might not help as much if they already got the information they needed.

Get some good anti-virus programs, even if it means paying for it. It will save you a lot of time 8)

I always when that happens (Im a Computer Nerd) I take the time to back up my computer everyday and use the system restore It usually gets rid of it.
AVG had a good Free 2011 antivirus and it works

Wish you were more descriptive (Guy that did it, TTG username if any) anyway, a system restore is the best you can do. Just change all of your passwords.

They gain access to anything on your computer

Don't try to describe a keylogger if you don't know what one is. I infect people with keyloggers myself, so I'd be better to explain than anyone else on this post (so far).
A keylogger, at its lowest form, simply logs all keystrokes made on one's system. If you log into TTG, I have your account information. Same for Facebook, YouTube, etc. A keylogger can be software, and hardware. The most common keylogger is a software keylogger, than can be binded to any executable file (.exe, .mp3, etc.), and once the exe file is run the keylogger will be activated. That's what I use. Then there's the hardware keylogger, which is an extension of a wired keyboard the simply logs all keystrokes. Keyloggers are sometimes used in work environments to monitor what employees are doing during work hours. If you want anymore information, just tell me and I'll be glad to help you out.
An mp3 is certainly not an executable file..
