I would go with what you can afford and what you are going to use it for.
I would do 8GB because it should be more then anough and its cheaper
But if you need more then 8 because you run a lot of hardcore software then get 16

I'd go for 8GB, I doubt there will be a time when you are using more than 8GB at once and it is cheaper.
