Finished my previous 3 books and have moved on to a few more.

Lately I have been reading the following:

The Afghan Campaign: A Novel By: Stephen Pressfield
It details and follows a single soldier’s journey into combat in a campaign with Alexander the Great.

Casca's Review
Excellent book. It is darker than I thought it would be. His previous books about combat and ancient times still had some humor in them. This one dives deep into the reality of war, killing and survival. The author does a good job of showing the transformation of the main character from a moral man to a brutal soldier that just wants to survive and go home. Its lessons can be used today with the operations that are now ongoing in that area right now.
His previous books are worth a look too. My favorite of his is Gates Of Fire. It is a historical novel about the battle of Thermopylae.

The Code Book: The Science of Secrecy from Ancient Egypt to Quantum Cryptography By: Simon Singh
Follows and explains the history of the use of code from ancient times to the use of modern computer cryptography

Casca's Review
This is the 3rd time I have read this book. Beings how I'm not very smart I read it then go and try to learn about things that I did not understand then go and reread it again. It’s a great book and is full of fascinating material. I have never become bored with it and have always walked away with something new every time. If you are interested in cryptography, encryption or just want to learn some really cool material, then this book is for you. The author makes it very easy for a normal person (i.e. me) to understand basic and ancient encryption techniques and has several interesting stories throughout history that show how it was used. When he moves into the modern ages he does a very good job of describing the complex formulas, algorithms, and range of possibilities that deal with modern day encryption and security programs.

Yes you can find it in a High School Library. Same for Middle school. It is a great book. I was supposed to read it with my class (Meaning read aloud but i was a student not a teacher) and i read ahead. My teacher just got mad at me. But it was a great book. And it is in all Library's. If not then your school is crazy.

No, Alexander the Great was way before the Roman Empire. He is more in line of the Macedonion and Greek empires.
